Hardwick Contracts with Barre Landfill

Beginning on Saturday, March 10, 2007, Hardwick residents will be able to take their trash to the Barre Landfill from 8 a.m. to noon, on the bi-weekly schedule noted below. This is a temporary arrangement until mid-July when a permanent curbside Pay-As-You-Throw program for trash and recycling will be established in Hardwick.

The following conditions apply. Residents must purchase special 33-gallon green bags at the Hardwick Recycling Center, located at 2011 Barre Road in Wheelwright. The Center is open Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bags ($2 each) come in rolls of 5 for $10 and will be available for purchase starting on Saturday, March 3.

All trash must be placed in these bags. No loose trash will be accepted. No recycled material will be accepted. All recycled material (paper, plastic, glass and tin) must be taken to the Hardwick Recycling Center. All hard-to-manage material (tires, electronics, appliances, batteries, clothing, books, and good used objects for swap) must also be taken to the Hardwick Recycling Center. Hardwick Residents must have a current 2007 blue recycling sticker on their vehicle. Stickers are free and available at the Recycling Center. Recycling staff is happy to help all new customers.

Directions to the disposal site and other information will be distributed with the bags. Thank you for following these simple rules.
