HOURS: Saturdays, 8 am - Noon & Wednesdays, 9 am - 11 am

FEES: $25 for fiscal year beginning July 1 for Hardwick residents;
$80 annually for non-Hardwick residents.
Stickers Required.

 

MATERIAL WHAT TO RECYCLE HOW TO PREPARE UNACCEPTABLE
MIXED PAPER & CARDBOARD Mixed paper and cardboard
(If it tears, it's recyclable)
Must be dry. Bring to appropriate container. Flatten boxes. No wallpaper, metallic wrapping paper, tissue, wax paper, and no dirt, grease, food particles.
CO-MINGLED CONTAINERS Plastics #1-7
Metal and aluminum food cans and trays
Rinse clean. Labels may be left on.

No paint or petroleum product containers. No plastic bags, plastic wrappings, six-pack rings, styrofoam trays or cups.

GLASS Food and beverage jars, bottles.  Rinse clean. Remove tops. Labels may be left on. No window glass, dishes, glasses, pyrex, ceramics, light bulbs.
AUTOMOTIVE Waste motor oil - free
Car batteries - free
Car tires - $2
Tractor tires - $17.50
Oil Filters - $1
Waste oil in quart or gallon containers tightly capped. Bring to garage. No mixing anti-freeze, gas, water or other material with oil that is used to heat the highway barn.  Empty and full petroleum product containers other than motor oil not accepted. North Brookfield offers regional hazardous waste collection days.
FLUORESCENT BULBS, MERCURY THERMOMETERS

Greater than 2 feet long $1
Less than 2 feet, bulbs $0.50

Handle carefully to avoid breakage  
SCRAP METAL Large and small items including a bicycle, lawnmower, snow blower, rototiller, LP tank any size, stove, washer/dryer, residential water heater, aluminum sheds, car parts, farm implements. For power equipment drain gasoline.  LP tanks must be empty.

Computer monitor, hard drive - $10

  Alkaline batteries should be put in with household trash according to the DEP
REDEMPTION CONTAINERS   Rinse clean. Funds donated to non-profit groups.
CLOTHING, TEXTILES & SHOES  

Items must be dry and in tied plastic bags. Place in Planet Aid yellow bins anytime

Use 13 gallon size bags or smaller. Larger bags do not fit and should not be put outside the container.
COMPOSTABLE ORGANICS Not accepted on site

 

Earth Machines for sale for $30.
SWAP SHED Most any clean, usable items, i.e., books, tools, construction material, games, good clean clothing, household items, etc. See attendant before leaving any items. Nothing broken. Must be in working condition. No mattresses or upholstered furniture, car seats, suitcases, skis, and large plastic toys/items.

BULK WASTE COLLECTIONS ARE HELD AT LEAST ANNUALLY AND FEES ARE CHARGED TO COVER EXPENSES.
